The Mayor of Brentwood, Councillor Gareth Barrett, today officially opened the brand-new headquarters of MRO and aerospace supply chain solutions specialist, Farsound. After cutting the ribbon, he welcomed staff, families, and other guests with Farsound’s UK Senior Leadership Team. Guests were then invited to lunch and a tour the building, which was designed from scratch with sustainable working and technology at the heart of its construction.
Farsound’s new headquarters building has 8 times the capacity of its old premises, with capacity to add mezzanine floors and other facilities as the company develops and expands. Eco-friendly features include solar panels on the roof to provide electricity for lighting and heating, as well as EV charging points in the car park and plenty of room for bicycle storage. Reclaimed greywater is also being used for flushing toilets and staff are encouraged to recycle resources as much as possible.
In his speech, The Mayor of Brentwood applauded the sustainable nature of the new headquarters and wished the entire Farsound team well: “We are thrilled that Farsound has moved its UK headquarters here, joining several other nearby innovative global businesses with local headquarters. I am delighted to open your new headquarters and wish you every success in your new home.”
Kevin Sargent, Non-Executive Chairman of Farsound added: “We are pleased to be able to officially open our new headquarters building in Brentwood, Essex. It has been more than two years in the planning and represents a significant investment for us. We believe firmly that it will support our ambitious growth plans, as we expand our team, our services and our market reach, not only here in the UK, but around the world.”
Farsound’s new headquarters has been built on land allocated in Brentwood council’s new Local Development Plan, aimed at bringing additional employment to the area and complementing the council’s vision to meet the growth needs in the south of the borough.
The new building is designed to be versatile in its use. Staff comfort and good quality working conditions are central to its layout, with an open-plan layout to encourage collaborative working. A gym, games room and yoga area all support the health and wellbeing of Farsound staff. Technology also plays a key role, with a £1.2 million robotic picking system installed in the operations area for the automatic picking of aerospace parts.
